Kraamzorg Support (Dutch Postnatal Care)

In the Netherlands, kraamzorg is a specialized form of postnatal care rooted in a long-standing tradition of supporting families at home during the first 8 days after birth. As a certified kraamverzorgende, I blend professional Dutch postpartum care with a warm, intuitive approach. My kraamzorg services focus on both monitoring the health and recovery of mother and baby, and offering practical in-home care during this critical adjustment period..

What you’ll receive

Kraamzorg Support

  • Daily health checks for mother and baby (e.g., temperature, healing, feeding, and weight gain)
  • Breastfeeding or bottle-feeding support and feeding observations
  • Practical newborn care guidance (cord care, hygiene, safe sleep setup)
  • Household support like laundry, tidying, and meal prep
  • Support in establishing a family rhythm with your newborn
  • Documentation and collaboration with midwives, if needed.

Kraamzorg hours are often arranged through your Dutch health insurance, but private packages are also available if you’re not insured locally or need extended support. This care is typically scheduled in advance of your due date, so we can ensure a smooth start after birth.

Price: 70/h (usually fully covered by your insurance)

What others say

“Ayelet was amazing! She was with us 4 days after my partner returned to work. She took care of everything she could, ensured I always had a hot tea and water, cooked, tidied the house, and even cared for the dog. The most important thing is she always ensured I could rest and enjoy the newborn.”

Sholz, Amsterdam

“Ayelet was a great support during my pregnancy and childbirth.
She was great with my partner as well.
We both felt very comfortable with her around. She even came into the operation room with us and never left my site while my husband had to go with the baby for some checks. I would recommend her to anyone!

What is Kraamzorg?

Kraamzorg is a unique Dutch system of postnatal care, providing professional support to families in the first 8 days after birth. A kraamverzorgende (maternity nurse) visits your home daily to monitor the health of both mother and baby, assist with newborn care, support feeding, and help with light household tasks. The goal is to ensure a safe, supported, and gentle transition into parenthood—so you can rest, recover, and bond with your baby in confidence and comfort.
