Ceremonies

After birth, your body, mind, and spirit deserve gentle care, support, and time to heal. Ancient traditions from around the world, including Belly Binding and the Mexican Rebozo Ceremony, offer nurturing rituals designed to help you recover, restore alignment, and feel grounded in the early weeks of motherhood.

Belly Binding & Abdominal Massage

Belly Binding is a ritual of support, warmth, and reconnection. A nurturing postpartum practice that gently supports your body, calms your nervous system, and invites a deep sense of grounding during the first week after birth. It is an invitation to recenter and heal your postpartum body. Belly binding will help fill the void, both physically and emotionally, by snugly wrapping the torso and giving you a held-together feeling during a time of significant change. This practice can gently ease discomfort, improve posture, and remind your body to close after the openness of pregnancy and birth.

Rebozo Ceremony

The Rebozo Ceremony is a sacred postpartum healing ritual for your body, mind, and spirit. It is an invitation to honor your journey into motherhood. The ritual is designed to “close” and celebrate the mother after the enormous opening experience of pregnancy and birth. Rooted in traditional practices from Mexico, inspired by the Mayan culture, this ceremony provides a sacred space for you to be nurtured, supported, and gently guided back to your center.

Belly Binding Ceremony

What Is It

Belly Binding is a nurturing abdominal wrap rooted in ancient postpartum traditions found across many cultures worldwide. In India, it formed part of the Confinement Period, a sacred time dedicated to rest, warmth, nourishing food, and focused care for the mother after birth. Similar practices existed in parts of Asia, the Caribbean, and Europe, where belly binding was used to support the abdominal muscles, promote physical recovery, and offer mothers a sense of safety and a sense of reconnection with their bodies.

What It Helps With

In the first week after birth, it is common to feel a sense of openness or instability in the belly and lower back. Belly Binding offers gentle, personalised support during this tender phase. The wrap is applied carefully and intuitively, adapting to your body’s needs. It can help ease discomfort, provide physical stability, and create a calming sensation of being held and supported. Many mothers report that belly binding deeply shifts how their bodies feel, bringing a sense of grounding, warmth, and presence. This gentle containment often supports a deeper connection with both the body and the newborn, allowing space to integrate the experience of birth and early motherhood.

How To Book

I offer Belly Binding as part of my postpartum care during the first week after birth. It can also be booked as a standalone session, even if you are not enrolled in my postpartum or kraamzorg care. This is a dedicated moment just for you, a quiet pause, a soft embrace, and a supportive ritual for your body and soul when you need it most.

Rebozo Ceremony

What Is It

The Rebozo Ceremony is an ancient Mexican postpartum tradition practised for centuries to support new mothers in the early days after birth. Using the rebozo- a long, soft, woven shawl- this ritual combines gentle wrapping, rocking, and specific movements to offer physical support, ease tension, and promote emotional and energetic balance.

Traditionally, the Rebozo Ceremony is part of the “confinement” period after birth, when mothers are encouraged to rest, nourish their bodies, and connect deeply with their newborn. Similar practices are found in other cultures around the world, emphasizing the importance of support, touch, and ritual during this vulnerable and transformative time.

What It Helps With

During the first weeks after birth, your body and nervous system are still adjusting. The Rebozo Ceremony offers gentle containment and rhythmic movement, helping to release tension in the back, hips, and belly, restore alignment, and provide a comforting sense of grounding. Many mothers experience a deep feeling of being held, both physically and energetically, which can enhance emotional well-being, calm the nervous system, and support bonding with their baby.

How To Book

I offer the Rebozo Ceremony as part of my postpartum care sessions, but it can also be booked independently. This dedicated time is a quiet pause just for you, a moment of care, nurturing, and reconnection that supports your body, mind, and heart in the early weeks of motherhood. It is a ritual that honors your transition, helping you integrate the birth experience and enter motherhood with calm, presence, and confidence.

What others say

“Our birth was just as I wanted it to be, feeling informed of my choices and in control at all times. Ayelet helped us understand what to expect from delivering a baby in the Netherlands. She explained our medical options and how to achieve the birth I hoped for, bringing in strategies to relax and ease my anxiety. It would have been a very different experience without Ayelet.”

~Paula & Chris, Amsterdam

“Ayelet was my doula – my ‘silent angel’ during the birth of my son, and I am so glad we were together. My partner and she were my best team. She listened, gave great advice, and helped us understand what we wanted. I know my birth experience would have been very different without her.”

~Bibi, Amsterdam

“Warm, wholesome and someone I would happily return to if I would be blessed with another pregnancy.
I highly recommend Ayelet, her knowledge combined with her experience, warmth and compassion are what every expectant mother needs on the journey through pregnancy and motherhood..”

~Fleur, Amsterdam
