FAQ

Who is Doula?

Nulla porttitor accumsan tincidunt. Pellentesque in ipsum id orci porta dapibus. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit.

What is Kraamzorg?

Kraamzorg is a unique system in the Netherlands that provides families with professional support and care during the 8 days following birth.
Its purpose is to help the mother recover peacefully, support breastfeeding, assist parents in getting to know their baby, and give the family a calm, safe, and nurturing start.

Kraamzorg includes baby care, support for the mother, daily guidance, and light household help everything needed to allow the family to rest, regain strength, and feel secure.

And how does it look with me?

I like to meet my families before the birth in a short meeting.
To hear how you live, what matters to you, what you love, what makes you happy and also what feels a little overwhelming.

This meeting helps me truly feel connected to you,
and when I arrive after the birth it already feels like a familiar embrace.
I remember your wishes, the character of your home, what we talked about and that makes the start much smoother, for you and for me.

Then, we begin eight days of “together”

Eight days where I am by your side.
I enter your home at your pace, with sensitivity, quietly, with a smile,
and hold you  so that you can hold your baby.

Listening, preparing, wrapping, explaining, and helping
so you can be free to simply be parents.

So you won’t feel alone.
So you can feel safe.

What is Postpartum?

What is Postpartum? And what makes the first 40 days so special?

Postpartum is the name for the period after birth, when the body, the heart, and life itself go through deep transformation.
It’s a very sensitive time, filled with emotions, exhaustion, adjustment, love and often, all of those in the same day.

In many cultures, there’s a deep understanding of the need to hold and care for the mother during this time especially in the first 40 days after birth.
This is a sacred period dedicated to healing, rest, bonding, and being born again as a baby, and also as a mother, a father, and a new family.

How does that look like in practice?

I do my best to create a calm, safe, and loving space for new parents a space where it’s okay to rest, to let go and be.
To ask, to cry, to laugh. To be seen, exactly as you are.

I prepare warm, nourishing, and delicious meals that strengthens the body from within, supports breastfeeding, and comforts the soul.

I also offer gentle bodywork  massage, touch, and body wrapping
to help the mother feel at home in herself again.

My goal is to support you your body, your emotions, your journey into motherhood I’m takin care of you so you can take care of your baby.

There’s a beautiful saying:

“If we take care of the mother in the first 40 days,
she will be healthy for the next 40 years.”
I believe that is true.
